Arrived in Dubai
We arrived in Dubai on Saturday night. We made our way to the Dusit Hotel by cab - a pretty simple and painless process - checked into the hotel, showered, and went to bed. Very nice hotel indeed. :)
Ever since I woke up on Sunday morning, it has been work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep....joining an aerospace start-up is, to say the least, an exhilarating experience.....working in one...even more so...
K rented a car the very next day and has been checking out the neighbourhoods in the area. She has been to all key residential areas, all key malls, and all key souks....more on these later...obviously these visits were all cursory visits...
This is a brief "we are alive"and kicking email to let you know that we made it in one piece...or rather two pieces..b & k..
More to come....later....

Decision to Leave for Dubai: 14th May 2007
We decided to re-locate from Washington DC, (yes, pack up and leave) to Dubai about a week ago. It was the 14th of May 2007, Monday morning, when we committed ourselves to the move. 24 agonizing hours went by between the formal job offer and the acceptance!
Many people think of DC as a cosmopolitan place, but having spent almost 8 years in the DC Metropolitan area, 3 years in the suburbs of Northern Virginia and ~5 years on Capitol Hill, we thought it might be a neat idea to change venues. We wanted much more variety in life, but most of all we wanted an international perspective on life.
Over the last 12 months, we have been weighing our options and we knew, deep down inside, that we would be moving to another state or country in the near future, HOWEVER, we were not entirely prepared (mentally) for such a sudden switch in gears.
